Dior’s S/S2021 Couture Collection Is Inspired by Tarot Cards


The mystery and magic of the tarot inspired Dior’s spring/summer 2021 haute couture collection. Creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri was drawn to tarot cards as a way to access the magic realm, explore the unknown, and reconnect with the soul of the world.

The complete collection, titled “Le Château du Tarot” or “The Tarot Castle,” features gowns, pearl jewellery and hair accessories, shoes, and separates inspired by characters of the Visconti-Sforza tarot deck — one of the oldest surviving tarot decks in recorded history, dating back to 15th century Milan, Italy.

For spring/summer 2021, Dior continues with its signature gray organza gowns and adds bodices covered in decadent illustrations by artist Pietro Ruffo.
